I was born and raised in California. I know this place from the ground up, literally—from the trails of the Sierra, Point Reyes, Mt. Whitney, to the arroyos of San Gabriel and Joshua Tree, the Boardwalk of Venice Beach, the cobble stones of Alvera Street, the backroads of Wine Country, Jack London’s ‘Wolf House', Golden Gate Park, the MOMA, The Getty, our local theaters, City Lights books, and late-night cafes around the Bay.
In my lifetime our state’s population has increased by 25 million people! I’ve witnessed the profound pressures, innovations, and transformations, (good and bad), this growth has created. Housing is at the core of everything linked to commerce, culture and politics. It is a modern pursuit with ancient roots, that I have paid careful attention to.
This broadly relevant, interlinked quality of housing combined with my interest in aesthetics and architecture, drew me to the Real Estate industry 30 years ago. In the past three decades I have become an expert on all aspects of our market. I have represented countless Sellers and Buyers in Berkeley and Oakland selling over $100,000,000 of local real estate.
In addition to my business, marketing, and finance expertise, I have done hands on restoration of many homes in the area, including an 1894 Queen Anne mansion, and my 1904 brown-shingle residence in Elmwood. I have restored multi-unit buildings, managed condominium conversions, added "granny units," and conceived of and built new housing in the East Bay. My experience in construction, design, zoning, permits, condominium conversion, renovation, and development gives me unique insight into a property's value, use and aesthetic potential.
I have redeveloped, own, and manage investment property in Berkeley. I understand the potential and pitfalls of such property, especially regarding management, land-use and rent control matters.
Whether you are a Seller or Buyer looking for your dream home, or an investor looking for a wise 1031 exchange, I can help. Until then, may you enjoy some of the wonders of our beautiful state!
