Emeryville Neighborhood Guide
Small Town, Big Ideas
Ask anyone the first thing they think of when they think of Emeryville, and they are likely to say IKEA. The store is a retail anchor just steps from the Bay Street Shopping Center with its many shops, outdoor concerts and popular movie theatres. Add the proximity of Trader Joe’s and the Emery Go-Round shuttle which makes getting from place to place a breeze and you’ve got the perfect retail and dining complex (without the parking hassles and traffic of larger urban areas).
Close to the city, so near the water, Emeryville is a great commuter spot, a hop skip and jump to major freeways, but within sight of those great Bay and city views.
If you’re looking for cool condos and lofts, Emeryville is a wonderful destination. Growing development of live/work spaces has attracted the arts community — those into music, dance, drama, and fine arts can find all kinds of spaces in which to hone their craft.
Need a date night but can’t find a reliable babysitter? Let Emeryville take care of the details! One Friday per month the Emeryville Recreation Center hosts a Parent’s Night Out. Your kids will enjoy dinner, crafts, music, and activities with their friends while you enjoy the same with your partner. Coordinated on the same evenings, teens can have fun in the Bay Area with others from the Teen Center (including transportation, food, entrance fees, and chaperones). Note: Pre-registration is required for both events.
Emeryville has a vibrant, bustling culture with amazing waterfront views.
The Senior Center provides fitness classes, as well as ample entertainment with outings to theater productions, picnics in the park, museums, movie nights, and more.
